History

Akrapovič is a Slovenian manufacturer of premium exhaust systems for motorcycles and performance cars. Former racer Igor Akrapovič started out with a tuning shop called Skorpion, building his own exhausts because good racing systems were too expensive; the company took his name in 1997. It is based in Ivančna Gorica and runs its own titanium foundry, with most production in Črnomelj.

Racing made the brand. By 1999 every Japanese factory team in World Superbike used Akrapovič, and Colin Edwards won its first world title in 2000. The company entered MotoGP in 2002 and has since been part of more than 200 world championships on two and four wheels. Its range covers slip-ons and full systems in titanium, stainless steel and carbon, and it is an OE supplier to brands such as BMW Motorrad and Yamaha.
