History
Reifenwerk Heidenau traces its roots to 1946, when a small rubber-goods works was set up in Heidenau near Dresden in Saxony. From 1950 the plant also produced car and motorcycle tyres, and in the GDR era it became East Germany's main supplier of two-wheeler tyres, sold under the Pneumant name. After reunification the business was privatised and has operated independently as Reifenwerk Heidenau since 1993. It is one of the few companies still building motorcycle tyres in Germany and markets them proudly as made in Germany.
Among adventure riders Heidenau is best known for the K60 Scout, a long-lasting dual-sport tyre that has become a favourite for overland travel on big enduros. The range also covers road tyres such as the K80 and K80 SR, scooter and moped tyres like the K66, classic and vintage patterns including the K34 and K36, sidecar tyres, and motocross, enduro, supermoto and racing compounds for the track and classic racing.
