History

Michelin was founded in 1889 in Clermont-Ferrand, France, by the brothers André and Édouard Michelin, who soon patented a detachable pneumatic tyre for bicycles. The company is still headquartered in Clermont-Ferrand and has grown into one of the largest tyre manufacturers in the world, also known for the Michelin Guide and its mascot Bibendum. On two wheels, Michelin has a long racing record with hundreds of Grand Prix victories, and it has been the sole tyre supplier to MotoGP since 2016.

The motorcycle range is broad. Sport and track riders choose from the Power family, including the Power 6, the Power GP2 and Power Cup tyres, while the Road 6 serves sport-touring riders. Adventure bikes are covered by the Anakee line, from the road-oriented Anakee Road to the knobbly Anakee Wild. Commander III tyres fit cruisers and touring bikes, Scorcher models are developed together with Harley-Davidson, and the Starcross, Enduro and Tracker ranges cover off-road riding, alongside City Grip tyres for scooters.
